Vegan Powerhouse and natural intuitive Chef Mayra has been in the “healthy eating and cooking” industry for over 13 years, holding certifications in Sports Nutrition, Macrobiotic Cooking, Vegan, Holistic, and Feng Shui Cuisines. Also known as Dr. Flavor, Chef Mayra loves the Southwest and Caribbean cuisines, which create the base for her fusion of flavors and cultures, “a gastronomic molecular experience”.
A master in creating delicious vegan comfort food and some of the best animal-free desserts in Las Vegas, Chef Mayra conducted a variety of classes, online courses and cooking demos for anyone who wants to learn the secrets to a healthier plant-based lifestyle.
An avid supporter of organic and local produce, Chef Mayra brings the best out of every food she gets into her hands! Her enthusiasm for tasty and healthy meals makes us true believers in her philosophy: “that we will fall in love with food again!”
She was the owner of the wildly popular “Pura Vida Bakery & Bystro”, Las Vegas’ first and only 100% cruelty-free restaurant, which was closed to make space for a new, bigger and better location, and a little bird is telling us that we may expect a new opening of this fabulous eatery anytime soon again!
Chef Mayra brings a creative flair and a passion for food to her craft; combined with a strong business sense and engaging interpersonal skills. She is Vegan not only by profession, but by lifestyle. She is dedicated to performing culinary magic that will put unique flavors into your mouth with wholesome animal free and organic foods. She is known as “Dr. Flavor” by her Patrons and her Colleagues.
Chef Mayra has been in the Food Industry for over fifteen (15) years, and is trained in the Classic Culinary Arts and has Certifications in Sport Nutrition, Macrobiotic Cooking, as well as, Vegan, Holistic, and Feng Shui Cuisine. She started her career as a Cook and began learning and experimenting with recipes from various cultures, including French, Caribbean, Southern, Cajun, and West African cuisine. Early on she had the opportunity and the pleasure to work under two great Caribbean Chefs, who shared with her the secrets of cooking with Caribbean Spices and the luscious flavors of Southern Cuisine.
Chef Mayra discovered unique flavors in each cuisine, handpicked the best tasting components and created her own distinct “Taste of Heaven” combining the elements from various cultures, with her primary focus on Caribbean and Southern Cuisine.
As a skilled Culinary Professional, touted and recognized for her abilities to combine distinct and unique flavors and her comprehensive knowledge of a variety of cuisines, she also has the ability to provide a customized dining experience and an atmosphere so often described as a “Garden of Delight.” She is committed to providing her Patrons with unforgettable and healthy dining experience.
